With the growth of online applications and ecommerce we saw a huge gap in the market for a web performance monitoring service. There were a few choices, but none of them had the right combination of functionality and ease of use. So we decided to build our own: the system we wanted to use.
We've made Aware Monitoring the easiest way to measure your website and web application performance. Our service helps avoid downtime and slowdowns to keep your revenues flowing.
We're a privately held company and headquartered in Nottingham, UK. The company was co-founded by CEO Nick Barker and CTO Simon Oxley.
Nick's worked in IT for over 20 years, and he's seen the industry evolve into today’s Internet services. In his time Nick’s worked in sales, marketing, and product management roles.
Nick started out in sales and was instrumental in Business Systems Group Plc becoming the UK’s fastest-growing systems integrator. At Novell Inc, one of the World’s leading software manufacturers, Nick was a Regional Manager specialising in monitoring software applications. In his last role Nick grew ComputerLand UK Plc’s remote management and monitoring service into a multi-million dollar global service and made it the company’s most profitable service.
After finishing an MBA at the University of Nottingham, Nick decided the time was right to put his experience to good use, so he started Aware Monitoring with Simon.
When he's not preaching the importance of keeping a watchful eye on your websites, you'll spot Nick notching up the miles all around Europe on his road bike or keeping his children entertained.

Simon's generally buried deep in Aware Monitoring’s depths. Having spent 15 years in IT - including 7 years in financial services - he's well versed in everything from systems architecture to network management and, of course, monitoring.
Simon started out working on the UK’s Nation Health Service IT infrastructure. After that he spent time working as a network consultant where he specialised in systems management and monitoring. Simon met and worked closely with Nick at this consultancy.
At Capital One Simon was instrumental on designing their new mission critical transaction monitoring system for their European business. That meant tackling planning, architecture and leading the deployment. The project scope included system and transaction monitoring and SLA reporting.
Throughout this time Simon and Nick stayed in touch, and by 2008 it was a natural choice to start Aware Monitoring together.
When Simon's not neck-deep in source code, you'll find him tearing along trails on his mountain bike or catching up on classic movies.
